The debut single from mlbacard¡ is the instantly addictive ‘KETCHUP’. It’s a smooth, yet melancholy release that was written during a difficult, sorrowful time for the young artist. “I’d trap myself in the inevitable cycles of depression,” she explains. “I felt misunderstood and didn’t accept the way society conventionally measures success, the world felt empty, therefore I felt empty.” You can tell that her homegrown sound takes inspiration from a variety of contemporary artists, but the subtle jazz inflections that work their way into her dreamy, lo-fi hip-hop beats add something beautifully unique.
